For New Hampshire Senate

The campaign is going well. It’s been a pleasure to meet community members in District 21 and, of course, valuable to hear your concerns. Thanks to all of you who have been giving your volunteer time, financial support, and opinions. I hope that if I become your State Senator you will continue to share your ideas and questions with me, and I will do my best to keep the lines of communications open, too.
Over the next biennium, the NH Legislature will, as always, grapple with issues that touch the lives of all our citizens. My commitment to District 21 citizens is that I will work for:
• immediate measures to address the needs of those who cannot pay this winter’s heating bills—especially weatherization that will reduce costs over the long run
• a long-term energy policy that emphasizes energy conservation and efficiency and greater use of renewable energy sources, building on both my earlier legislative work as a House member (1989-1998) and the landmark state laws passed over the past two years – the Renewable Portfolio Standards bill (RPS) and the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI)
• educational excellence in NH schools, access to early education, and support for our post-secondary institutions
• health care that is affordable for NH workers and employers, and access to full-service care for NH veterans
• reproductive rights
• affordable (and energy efficient) housing and transportation
• protection of our natural and historic resources through continued support for the Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP)
• cost-saving measures in state government and a balanced budget
Making progress on these goals will require hard work and give-and-take. I can’t guarantee the outcome of our work in Concord, but I can tell you that I will use legislative experience, hard work, and an open, collaborative approach in making the best decisions possible.
I appreciate your support.
Best wishes,
Amanda Merrill
